Catching up with the Word of God

We had two meetings so far with this year's group of people in RCIA, those adults preparing for various sacraments of initiation. At these meetings we took some time to look at scripture readings, usually the Sunday Scripture Readings with a special focus on the Sunday Gospel.
Remember, you can always check on Scripture Readings by visiting: http://usccb.org/
Meeting #1: October 10th
(Readings from Sunday, Sep 16th-24th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B)
Who do men say that I am? Who do YOU say that I am?

Meeting #2: October 17th
(Readings from Sunday, October 14th--28th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B)
A man ran up and ask Jesus, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit everylasting life?"
...Jesus looked at him, loved him, and said, "There is one more thing that you can do..."

Meeting #3: October 24th
(Readings from Sunday October 21st--29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B)
Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?

Questions:
1. Did you try to place yourself in the Gospel Readings by identifying with one character at a time and re-telling the Gospel story yourself in the first person?

2. What do you hear Jesus saying to you in the Gospel?

3.What do you hear being said in the First or Second Reading, or in the Psalm that was sung for that day?

4. What questions does this raise inside of you?

Please comment. Remember, you can do so anonymously if you wish.

1) I tried to place myself as Jesus and then retold the gospel story to myself. If I were Jesus I'd have been shocked at such a bold request.
2) I heard Jesus explaining to me that it is not that he chooses who goes to heaven but more like people themselves choose through their own actions (" to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared").
I also hear Jesus saying to me that although in our world our leaders like to make their authority felt, his way of doing it is that the greatest leaders will be the ones who serve others selflessly.
3) Didn't really understand the first reading. I took from the second reading that it says that we have a "high priest" who has suffered everything we have, and more, therefore he can relate to us and we don't' have to hesitate when asking for his help because he understands.
4) I don't really have any questions, except for what the first reading means.
